I have lived in other cities considered to be wonderful places to live (Palo Alto, California; Pittsburgh, Boston, Austin, Texas). They are great places to live, but this is my favorite, for many reasons:
- Housing is sooooo much more affordable.
- People are friendly and customer service oriented, even the Yankees who move here (I’m a transplanted Yankee.)
- Mountains and beaches, all within an easy drive. Great plus: the ocean is warm!
- Arts, theater, music—its all here.
- Sports—even if you don’t like sports, you’ll soon learn to keep abreast of the top basketball teams and the UNC-Duke rivalry. There is great basketball, baseball and ice hockey locally.
Most of all, it is so easy to get integrated into the community. Most people who move here do not have extended family here so they turn to their friends when it comes time to celebrate holidays and to help each other. Your friends become your family.
